The Los Angeles Women’s HIV/AIDS Task Force, under the fiscal leadership of JWCH Institute, respectfully welcomes you to support our annual programming. We deeply appreciate your sustained commitment to fighting the HIV/AIDS epidemic and addressing the sexual and reproductive health news and needs of ethnically diverse, socio-economically challenged urban communities. We hope that we can educate and empower women of color who are living with or affected by HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles (LA) County.
Established in 2007, the Task Force is a community coalition of volunteers from various backgrounds in the HIV/AIDS field, including researchers, health educators, case managers, housing advocates, pharmaceutical liaisons, community members, and women living with HIV/AIDS. Through our programming, the Task Force advocates for the availability and coordination of education and prevention strategies as well as high quality comprehensive health and social services for women and girls living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. We fully embrace the goals set forth by the National HIV/AIDS Strategy (NHAS) and align our efforts to reduce new infections, increase access to care and improve health outcomes for people living with HIV/AIDS, and reduce HIV-related health disparities. The Task Force relies on the generous support of our corporate partners.
For the next year the Task Force is committed to reaching the goals of NHAS by enhancing our programming to address health disparities related to HIV testing, linkage to care, prevention for positives and leadership development of HIV positive women. Our programs will target Black and Latino women from underserved and under-represented communities throughout Los Angeles. The Task Force is proposing the following activities/events to help us realize our mission: documentary or infomercial about perinatally infected youth in Los Angeles; HIV treatment summit for positive women and HIV providers; HIV testing initiative targeting women who do not think they are at risk for HIV and STIs; HIV Prevention for Positives retreat; and HIV leadership awards event honoring HIV positive women and providers. Our signature events including the annual leadership awards ceremony and HIV treatment summit collectively draw an audience of over 350 attendees. The Task Force is confident that we will be able to triple our outreach and impact with the support of the community.
The mission of the Task Force is to build and sustain community partnerships that support efforts to empower, educate, and mobilize women and girls living with or affected by HIV/AIDS.
